As I transition from my “day job” to this new creative life, I face new challenges. Example, how to go from a set schedule to my own. So easy to procrastinate. And when I work at home I find so many distractions. One of the solutions I am finding is to write in an “office away from home”. For me, that’s our local Starbucks or Peets. In these venues I find myself in “the zone”.
As for painting and drawing, I love taking classes. Being in school offers so many advantages: instruction from great professors, scheduled time in front of my easel and the comradery and support of other artists.
I am also learning to be selfish about my creative time. I am beginning to carve out the hours I need to write, paint and draw. And in addition, the time to grow my businesses.
